Bad audio kills good conversations

Your guest shared something useful. But there is background noise, room hum, and uneven mic levels fighting the conversation. Listeners should hear the idea before they hear the room.

Three problems. One upload.

Background noise removal

HVAC hum, keyboard clicks, street noise, barking dogs. Cicadas reduces ambient noise while keeping the voice at the center.

Filler word removal

Ums, uhs, you knows, and false starts can be detected and cleaned up so the episode feels tighter.

So um when we first uh launched the product you know it was clear that...

Volume leveling

One host is loud, the guest is quiet, the intro music jumps up. Cicadas balances levels so listeners do less volume riding.

HOW IT WORKS

Three steps to broadcast-ready audio

1

Upload your raw audio

Any format. Any quality. Cicadas works with whatever your mic and recorder give you.

2

Choose your enhancements

Noise removal, filler cuts, and level balancing are on by default. Toggle each one individually if you want control.

3

Download the clean version

Review the enhanced audio file, then use it with the rest of the episode kit.

What audio enhancement won't fix

We'd rather be upfront than overpromise.

  • It won't fix a bad microphone. Enhancement improves what's there — it can't invent clarity that was never recorded. If your mic is muffled, the output will be a cleaner muffled sound.
  • It won't add room tone or ambience. Cicadas removes noise, it doesn't add sonic character. If you want a specific audio aesthetic, that's a post-production choice.
  • It won't replace a sound engineer for high-production shows. If you're producing a Gimlet-level narrative podcast, you need a human. Cicadas is built for interview and conversation formats.
